Sorrow Into Joy
By Pearl Conaway

Sometimes we find ourselves with too much “on our plate”, and we wonder how to cope with it all.

Sometimes we find ourselves with too much “on our plate”, and we wonder how to cope with it all.

Our capabilities and resources are taxed to the extreme and no let-up seems in sight.

In light of this, what do we do?

If the first step we take is to go to God's Word, the rest begins to fall into place. He is still on the throne and His promises are still true.

He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, and that His grace is sufficient, for His power is made perfect in weakness. We just need to prepare ourselves to accept His provisions.

He sent a raven to feed the prophet Elijah, and Moses to lead the Israelite people out of bondage. He sent abundant rain from a cloud the size of a mans hand, provided tax money in a fish's mouth and He is still the same God – and there are still many today that receive from His hand.

Sometimes it requires a step of faith and obedience, just as the widow who used the last of her meal and oil to feed the prophet Elijah. As a result her food supply, that God provided, lasted the entire drought.

Paul received instructions for himself, and others to stay in the boat during a terrible storm. He received the promise that all lives would be saved, but the ship would go aground.

Then after a night of fruitless fishing, Jesus told the disciples to let their net down again. This time, it came up filled to overflowing.

Give it all, Give it all to Jesus

My Grandmother used to end all her letters to me with “keep on keeping on”. She lived this motto herself, and like Paul was able to say, “I have fought a good fight” as she looked forward to her promotion, at 95 years of age, to her eternal home.

In prison, Paul and Silas began to pray and sing praises unto God. As they did, God sent deliverance.

There is a song that says, “Give It All, Give it all, Give it all to Jesus, and He will turn your sorrow into Joy.”

I cannot even count the times He has done that very thing.

Jesus Christ is on the right hand of the Father making intercession for you and I.
